The museum tells the story of our region’s marine and lumbering tradition with a display of artifacts and treasures. We welcome visitors from near and far to take a step back in time to experience the vibrant and intriguing history of the region.
Tickets for a ride on the Katahdin can be purchased online or by stopping at the ticket office on the day of the cruise. The ticket office is located in the museum.
INCREDIBLE ADVENTURE ON MOOSEHEAD LAKE
Went on the Katahdin cruise on Aug 17. An amazing couple of hours on the boat. Great way to see the lake and learn history. Dress warm and beware it is windy!!
– Kelley A. | TripadvisorI loved the museum and the cruise. Learned a lot about the different mountains and some of the stories. Had a nice lunch during the trip on the boat. It was a great Grilled Cheese Sandwich. I would highly recommend
– Jean B. | TripadvisorWe didn't even have time to see all there was to see at the museum - it is small, but so interesting! Our 3 hour cruise on the 1914 "steamship" (now diesel) was such fun - friendly crew, galley and bar. Narrated well and views galore!
– Sally L. | TripadvisorA fun few hours on the boat. A peaceful, scenic ride and they even let you steer! It didn't hurt the snack bar food was good, and very reasonably priced
– Brendan B. | TripadvisorA fabulous way to tour this lovely lake, crew was professional & informative. The cruise was a full 3 hrs, keep that in mind if inclement weather
– Maria I. | TripadvisorWe took the five-hour Mt Kineo cruise on Oct 4 and it was wonderful. The "Thanksgiving sandwich" which we shared was great. It was made with "home-roasted" turkey!
